Laptop Help
I'm looking at getting a new laptop, this Sony Vaio was what I initially wanted (in green), but when I went in I saw this HP Pavilion.
The HP is cheaper and has better specs... But it's a bit heavier, and it's kind of ugly... Am I just being stupid paying more for the other one 'cause it looks nicer?
A LOT nicer...

Do looks really matter that much that you're willing to pay more for them?Personally I'd go for the better speced cheaper option every day of the week

Re: Laptop Help
I used to think the same about people paying ridiculous amounts for Mac books when they really didn't need them, just 'cause they were Mac books. But this glows green and has a Tron-like light diode on the back! :O
I just figure there must be SOMETHING wrong with the HP at that price, 'cause they had other HPs from the same series with less ram and a smaller hard drive for the same price, but with a different processor. :/

Re: Laptop Help
From personal experience I have to say Sony vaio are great laptops.
My wife has one about 4 years now and it is still on its original copy of vista, running pretty good. She never treated it like a 1200 euro laptop but more like a dinner plate, paper weight, door jam, child distractor, anvil etc etc
I cant comment on the HP as I have limited experience using them but if your happy with the processor power difference found here: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php
A8-3500 b/m 2910
i3 - 2310 b/m 2609
everything else is upgradable at a later date.
However the price difference is alot more than I expected before I clicked on the links. I plan on buying one of those HP laptops tomorrow for a new employee that starts on tuesday.
A very difficult decision, If only you could buy a sony vaio with similiar specs as the HP. Just to confuse you even more:

Good luck

Re: Laptop Help
Ended up getting the next model up of the Sony one.
It looks the same, but it's got 8 and a half hours battery life, and 512mb memory dedicated to graphics.
