The Xbox360 Thread

Post by TheLaw on Sun Aug 15, 2010 1:22 pm

Just thought I would re-create this thread as it was a popular one.

Anyhoo, its probably been posted before but I just read the confirmed pricing for Kinect. €149 Stand alone with kinect adventures or €299 for kinect, kinect adventures with a 4gig new xbox 360.

I will propably pick this up at launch but will decide for certain closer to the time - Reach and fable 3 will be out between now and then anyway.

It says on xbox.com there will be 15 release titles, Found this list on another site:

■Kinect Adventures (Microsoft Game Studios)
■Kinectimals (Frontier Studio/Microsoft Game Studios)
■Kinect Joy Ride (Big Park/Microsoft Game Studios)
■Kinect Sports (Rare/Microsoft Game Studios)
■Dance Central (MTV Games)
■Your Shape: Fitness Evolved (Ubisoft)
■EA Sports Active 2 (EA)
■Deca Sports Freedom (Hudson)
■Dance Masters (Konami)
■Adrenalin Misfits (Konami)
■Zumba Fitness (Majesco)
■Sonic Free Riders (Sega)
■The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout (THQ)
■Motion Sports (Ubisoft)
■Game Party: In Motion (Warner Bros.)

I have only seen footage/previews from some of the above, but its a pity there are not several different release game bundles to allow people to choose which game to get with the hardware.

Anyone else considering getting this?

I kinda want to see if it works/really is as good as the preview people say

Nah doubt I'll be getting it tbh.Nothing I've seen of it has convinced me that it's going to be any better than the Wii.And that list of launch games is brutal Rolling Eyes

I don't want to spend €150 on it.

2009 conference made me want to get one but at E3 this year I don't want it anymore.

I'll have to have a look at all this Kinect malarky - haven't seen any videos about it, but at that price there'd have to be some pretty awesome games coming out for it to make me want it.

Just played the demo for mafia 2. It's great. I had pretty much zero interest in this game before I played the demo.

Same here. The demo has definitely piqued my interest. The only thing I didn't like though was when you enter a building the camera zooms right up behind your shoulder. It's a bit awkward

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-16-lara-croft-and-the-guardian-of-light-review

Guardian of Light would almost be worth a full price for the co-operative campaign alone. At 1200 Microsoft points - around £10, €15 or $15 - it's an instant buy. There are few download games that offer this kind of value for money, and few that are as clever or effortlessly exciting. Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light might be a move away from the Tomb Raider name, but it's a tremendous homage to its spirit.

9/10.Not too shabby

Don't forget that there won't be online co-op until it is released on PSN.

Yeah I know that.Doesn't bother me too much. The single player is meant to be really good too

From Eurogamer's review
What Guardian of Light achieves, impressively, is a campaign that feels purpose-built and perfectly balanced whether you're playing on your own or with a friend.

From IGN
One of the best co-op games I've played, and yet it's almost equally fun on your own.

Re: The Xbox360 Thread

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, henceforth referred to as LCATGOL, has had a bumpy road to release. The lack of online co-op for the 360 version until September 28th, nullifying the "timed exclusivity" of the release was a major blow for Crystal Dynamics. Announcing 5 pieces of DLC within 3 months LCATGOL's release on top of the lack of co-op was considered a deal breaker according to a large segment of the people that posted comments.

What if you were told that the first DLC would be free for the first 30 days?

Straight from the mouth of Darrell Gallagher, General Manager of Crystal Dynamics:

The launch of Guardian of Light is just the beginning, we have a lot of additional content planned and we will be offering the first DLC pack for the first 30 days for free, exclusively on the Xbox 360®, so that gamers can get a taste of some of the exciting extras we have in store."

There is a good chance that this free DLC pack will be one of the three that focuses on combat, exploration and puzzles. Two more DLC packs are also planned which will allow you to play LCATGOL as classic Crystal Dynamic characters.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is hitting the Marketplace this Wednesday for 1200 MSP.

Link

I have no interest in the game ATM but I going to see if I can download the free DLC.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is great fun Very Happy.Much heavier emphasis on combat makes it feel suitably different from the other TR games.Kinda feels a bit like Smash TV with puzzles thrown in at times.

One of the achievements seems to have glitched on me though Mad

Is it related to red orbes? If it is that's to do with playing the trial first. I just bought the game without playing the trial so it didn't happen to me.

Just had some excellent games of Blazblue with SilentHunter, that game rules. If you don't own it, you're missing something precious in your life. Probably a working sexual organ.

I loved FO3 but I can't say I'm too excited about this.Obsidian don't exactly have the greatest track record

There's also the likes of CoD:Black Ops,Medal of Honour,Crysis 2,Dead Rising 2 and Assassin's Creed:Brotherhood on the way if any of them tickle your fancy Hex.

Fable 3 is pretty much the only 360 release I'm looking forward to in the next few months though.Much more excited about the Wii line up between now and xmas tbh
